PRINCE GEORGE – West Coast Olefins and the McLeod Lake Indian Band has inked a binding term sheet that will set the groundwork for an Impact Benefits Agreement in relation to a natural gas recovery plant to be built on McLeod Lake tradition territory.

Chief Harley Chingee says locating the facility in their traditional territory “will provide an opportunity to participate in equity ownership, construction of the facility and long-term employment. Working closely with West Coast Olefins during project development stages will ensure that the project is aligned with MLIB’s core values, traditions and ambitions. ”

The parties will take the next few months to work out more of the specifics. The parties will now work to identify a suitable location for the plant and will apply to the Oil and Gas Commission.
