ICBC announces new security features added to Driver’s Licences across BC

VANCOUVER–Enhanced security features, that’s what new driver’s licences across BC will be equipped with in order to help prevent identity fraud.

ICBC made the announcement of the introduction of enhanced security features on Wednesday, March 11. The card design will remain the same, however, new features will be added to both the front and back of the cards to help deter fraud and altercation.

Some of the new features include:

• Microtext on the front of the card
• An image of either a bear, whale or a bird on the back of the card, to differentiate between the type of card issued
• The cardholder signature on back of card

The enhanced security features will be applied to the BC Services card and the BC Identity card. The cards will be provided to those applying for a new card or renewing.
