PRINCE GEORGE–Upping the ante, that is what the City and School District are doing when it comes to keeping buildings clean and free of COVID-19.

Both public institutions are increasing the frequency of cleaning throughout their buildings.

“We’ve implemented a robust cleaning protocol in accordance with Northern Health protocol and the provincial health guidelines so this includes daily cleaning and sanitization of all of our Civic Facilities.”–Adam Davey, Director, Community Services and Public Safety with the City of PG.

Davey says they’ve ditched their “greener and environmentally friendly products” for “industrial-grade cleaning products that can kill COVID-19.” Civic Facilities also offer hand sanitizer, something that Davey says they–like many– are running low on and suggests that the public wash their hands much as health organizations have suggested.

“Our practices are very strong in SD57 in regards to cleanliness our custodians use really effective products which we certainly have cross-checked to make sure they are effective in killing COVID-19 and they will continue to use those products at a higher frequency.”–Anita Richardson, Superintendent, SD57

Richardson says that student and staff safety is their number one priority. Also mentioning that there are no plans to extend spring break due to COVID-19 concerns as of right now “we were advised yesterday that that is not part of the strategy of the provincial health officer or Ministry of Education.”
