In-person public engagement sessions cancelled for KRSS name change
PRINCE GEORGE — School District 57 is no longer holding the in-person public participation sessions regarding the name change of Kelly Road Secondary School. This, after yesterday’s announcement there would be four in-person sessions, three on the Hart and one at the House of Ancestors.
The Board attributes the decision to COVID-19 concerns.
“We believe it is our role and responsibility during this time to support the Provincial Health Officer’s strategy of social distancing, and prioritizing the health and well-being of our students, staff and public,” said Tim Bennett, Chair of the Board of Education, in a statement. “Our commitment to public engagement – while it may look different than what we originally proposed and released yesterday – is still a priority.”
The questionnaire, also announced yesterday, will continue as planned starting March 20. Student engagement sessions will continue to go ahead until further notice.
