City of Prince George cancels pool programs but pools to remain open

PRINCE GEORGE — Changes will go into effect starting tomorrow (March 16) when it comes to pool programs with the City of Prince George.

“All registered pool programs will be cancelled until the end of April, including all swimming lessons (private or in groups), birthday parties, and lifesaving and lifeguarding courses. Drop-in aquafit classes will remain available with the exception of the river walking class.

“Also the sauna at both pools and the steam room at the Aquatic Centre are being closed so as to comply with the recommendations of the BC Provincial Health Officer to avoid activities where people are closer than 1-2 metres apart,” says the city in a news release.

Regular hours of operation will remain in effect and the hot tubs at both facilities will remain open as long as customers respect the 1-2 metre social distancing recommendation

Refunds will be available for all cancelled pool programs. Customers who wish to cancel their pool pass may cancel at any time and re-purchase at a time of their choosing; a pro-rated refund at the time of cancellation will only be applied when passes are cancelled.

If you have any questions you are encouraged to call the pool at 250-561-7787
