Covid-19: “Impact larger than 9/11” says Prince George Airport CEO
PRINCE GEORGE – It’s an eerie sight inside the Prince George Airport.
The day-to-day foot traffic is non-existent and the Arrivals/Departures screens light up with red, a list of either delays or cancellations with only a few flights still coming in and out of the airport.
Covid-19 has taken its toll on the operations at the airport, however, CEO Gordon Duke says the airport remains open.
“As the situation has evolved, we’ve moved into a ‘work from home’ and staggered work schedule for our management team and administration team,” said Duke. Our operational frontline folks that are maintaining the safety and security of the airport, we’re looking – as their activity levels drop – at a plan for later on in the summer and moving it ahead to make sure that they’re staying busy, and that we as an airport, we’re fully ready to go when we return to normal operations.”
