PRINCE GEORGE — Concerns over the coronavirus have prompted one of Prince George’s largest retailers to temporarily close its doors.

The Hudson’s Bay department store closed yesterday (Mar.17) for two weeks, along with all of its other stores across Canada.

“The health and well-being of our associates, customers and communities is our top priority, and remains at the forefront as we make decisions in this rapidly-evolving situation,” it said in a statement.

“During this closure, store associates will be paid for all scheduled shifts that we planned for the two weeks.”

The Bay says its operations will be reassessed in two weeks.

For customers that have ordered products online, The Bay says it is arranging curbside pickup specifically for your order.

Elsewhere, Pine Centre Mall has reduced its hours as a precautionary measure, offering its retailers the option to reduce their store operating hours.

In a Facebook post, the mall also said it has also closed its food court seating area.

Customers may still order from the restaurants but must leave the area immediately after receiving their order.
