some regional facilities to close

RDFFG provides information on services and facilities in midst of COVID-19 crisis

PRINCE GEORGE—It’s not news that services and access to buildings across the province have been limited since the novel coronavirus was announced a pandemic but the Regional District of Fraser Fort George (RDFFG) wants the public to know what services and what facilities are and are not being affected.

As of Friday, March 20, the Robson Valley Recreation Centre, Robson Valley Community Centre and the Canoe Valley Recreation Centre will close to the public—allowing for deep cleaning of the facilities as well as other maintenance work.

Volunteer Fire Department Halls have also been closed for public gatherings.

Swap Sheds in Mackenzie, Valemount, Shelley and McBride are closed as of now. No changes have been made to the Regional District’s landfills or transfer stations.

Anyone looking to apply for a building permit or schedule a building inspection is asked to call ahead to the Regional District Office at 250-960-4400 or 1-800-667-1959 to schedule a time. In the Robson Valley appointments can be made by calling, 250-569-4211. Heating unit inspections on existing homes have been suspended for the health and safety of homeowners and staff.

The Regional District Corporate Office remains open Monday-Friday from 8a.m.-5 p.m.The Distrct is asking that the public avoid visiting the office unless necessary, and are instead encouraged to contact the District at 250-960-4400 or visit their website.
