Gas prices plunge as consumers stay home
PRINCE GEORGE – Gas Prices have seen a substantial drop amidst the novel coronavirus outbreak. It’s been a while since Prince George has seen prices below a dollar per litre of gas.
While the world responds to the novel coronavirus, Saudi Arabia and Russia have both ramped up production at the same time as consumer demand is lower than ever due to people working from home and practising social distancing amid the pandemic.
According to GasBuddy.com, prices in Prince George have dropped by 20 cents from last week’s averages (105.9), and 33 cents lower than last year’s average of 108.9 cents a litre.
Since recording began in 2008, GasBuddy has the lowest recorded average price for Prince George at 74.8 cents a litre, coming back February 12, 2016.
