SD57 closing playgrounds in response to COVID-19

PRINCE GEORGE — The Prince George School District has closed all district playgrounds effective immediately due to the COVID-19 outbreak.

“The School District wants to support the efforts of our provincial health officer and the government to ‘flatten the curve,” says Superintendent Anita Richardson.

Last week Provincial Health Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry said that kids mingling on playgrounds is “not what we need right now” and encouraged the public to practice social distancing.

The School District will be posting signage to inform the public of the closure which will remain in effect until further notice.
