The off-season kicked off with a bang for the Prince George Cougars Wednesday morning as the club won the 2020 WHL Bantam Draft Lottery.

The Cats entered the lottery with the 4th best odds to win the lottery (14%), beating out Regina, Moose Jaw, Tri-City, Saskatoon, and Red Deer.

However, in the Western Hockey League if you win the lottery you can only move up a maximum of two spots.

As a result, the Cougars won’t pick 1st overall in the Bantam Draft, they will pick 2nd.

In a press release released by the team, Head Coach and General Manager Mark Lamb shared the organization is ecstatic.

” There’s so many good players at the top of this draft class. To move up to second overall and select an elite talent is very gratifying and great for our organization,” shared Lamb.

The Regina Pats will have the 1st overall pick.

The order of the top six picks can be viewed below:

1. Regina Pats

2. Prince George Cougars

3. Moose Jaw Warriors

4. Tri-City Americans

5. Saskatoon Blades

6. Red Deer Rebels
