Chamber of Commerce releases survey results

PRINCE GEORGE – In conjunction with Small Business BC, the BC Economic Development Association and Community Futures BC, the BC Chamber of Commerce has released the results of a survey on the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Over 9,000 respondents,” says Todd Corrigall, CEO of the Prince George Chamber of Commerce. “I think it was one of the highest response rates for a provincial survey in BC.”

And the results were grim.

Nine out of ten small businesses have been impacted by the pandemic and 64% say they will cut half of their workforce. Eighty-three per cent say they’ve seen a decrease in revenue and 58% say there has been a decrease in demand for the products or services.

“Cities will always survive these issues because there’s en masse population. And we need to focus on what happens in the rural communities. Our economies are based in our rural communities.”
