Travellers could face jail time if failure to comply with 14 day quarantine
OTTAWA— Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, announced the implementation of the quarantine act in Canada, today, March 26.
Trudeau addressed the public from Rideau Cottage on his 14th day of self-isolation after his wife, Sophie Trudeau, became ill with the the novel coronavirus— she has since recovered fully from COVID-19.
The Prime Minister said that travellers are yet to take the 14 day quarantine seriously mentioning that it’s, “not just disappointing, it is dangerous.” The Prime Minister explained this means going straight home, not dropping by to visit friends or heading to the grocery store.
Those who do not comply with the 14 day quarantine could face serious fine and even jail time.
