Ottawa’s small business subsidy ‘makes a huge difference’ says P.G. Chamber of Commerce
PRINCE GEORGE — “It makes a huge difference.”
The words of Prince George Chamber of Commerce CEO Todd Corrigall in response to Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s announcement of financial help for small and medium-sized businesses severely impacted by the COVID-19 outbreak Friday.
Ottawa has pledged a payroll subsidy to these businesses that will cover up to 75 per cent of salaries amid the pandemic. That’s a major increase over the original 10 per cent subsidy plan.
“The 10 per cent wage subsidy was a step in the right direction but it certainly didn’t provide that certainty for businesses that they continue operating,” says Corrigall.
