OTTAWA—In Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s daily COVID-19 update he touched on the government’s efforts in working with companies to provide medical equipment to health care workers as well as the announcement of $2 billion for medical supplies.

Trudeau opened up his update by addressing the downing of the Ukrainian airliner earlier this year, appointing Ralph Goodale, as special advisor in the investigation. Trudeau says that the Canadian government continues to seek accountability and compensation for the families of those lost in the incident.

The Prime Minister then went on to thank all those who are behind making and shipping medical supplies for health care workers across the country.

Trudeau announced the signing of deals with three companies in order to keep up demand for medical products needed across Canad in order to protect healthcare workers during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The government is allocating $2 billion for protective equipment such as masks, face shields, gloves, gowns, and swabs.

“Stay home, do your part.”—Justin Trudeau

Trudeau says the Canadian Government is coordinating with provinces and territories to ensure that healthcare workers have everything they need to stay safe as they help combat the virus.

He also mentioned that the number of medical equipment we will need in the near future is ultimately up to Canadians and their actions over the next several weeks. The Prime Minister reiterated the importance of staying home.
