City highlights new roles
PRINCE GEORGE – The City is clarifying its role and responsibilities around orders issued by the Provincial Health Office.
Bylaw enforcement officers have been given the nod to monitor facilities that have been closed by a public health order and provide information to residents around the restrictions place around things like social distancing.
Also, the City is now able to conduct Council meetings without the public being present. It will also be able to complete three readings and adoption of certain bylaws in one meeting instead of several. Council will also be able to conduct meetings through different means, such as teleconferencing.
Also, the City will be working with the Farmers’ Market to find ways to operate outside of the current, City-owner facility on Third Avenue. The City will also work with the PGFMA and the Wilson Square Community Market to establish parameters, should the provincial orders be maintained into May, when the markets typically open.
