No in-person visits

Parents told not to have in-person visits with their children in care

PRINCE GEORGE – Two local families had their worlds turned upside down late last week.

The families were told that in-person visits with their children that are in care homes are temporarily suspended.

It was determined by the province that in-person visits with children in care are inconsistent with the provincial health officer’s orders regarding COVID-19.

The parents were asked to conduct virtual visits instead.

The parents complained it would be difficult because both children live with functional disabilities.

The Ministry of Children and Family Development responded by stating “exceptions can be made to accommodate certain special circumstances”

Both families were informed by the ministry this decision is up for review in 30 days or sooner if the provincial circumstances change.
