UNBC Interim President reacts to $3.5 million emergency financial assistance for students

PRINCE GEORGE—Earlier today (Thursday, April 2) the B.C. government announced that students attending BC’s post secondaries who are experiencing financial hardship will benefit from a one-time investment of $3.5 million in emergency financial assistance.

UNBC’s Interim President Dr. Geoff Payne released the following statement on the governments efforts.

“During these extraordinary times our students are facing many challenges, financial and otherwise, as they adapt to the current reality, this additional funding from the Ministry of Advanced Education, Skills and Training will help students when they need it most.” —Dr. Geoff Payne, UNBC Interim President

The $3.5 million investment will supplement existing student emergency financial assistance and will support will support domestic BC students experiencing an unexpected financial emergency that may affect their ability to finish their studies.
