No season for Prince George Track and Field

Apr 7, 2020 | 12:01 PM

The first meeting for the 2020 Prince George Track and Field season was supposed to be today (April 7th).

However, that won’t be happening.

Last week Prince George Track and Field announced they have officially cancelled their 2020 season.

It’s unfortunate news for everyone involved. From players to coaches, organizers, and the board.

There were talks about postponing the season rather than cancelling it, but with news from the City of Prince George that all recreational facilities, including Masich Place, would be closed until May 31st, that proved to be a challenge.

This would mean the entire first half of the season for Prince George Track and Field would be missed and an abbreviated season would be extremely difficult for the board to plan. As a result, they decided to pull the pin on the 2020 campaign.

This does allow the renovations at Masich Place to continue uninterrupted.

While this is unfortunate news for everyone involved, the health and safety of all of the athletes and coaches are top priority and they expect to come back strong for the 2021 season.
