Golf courses hopeful to open on schedule

Apr 8, 2020 | 12:17 PM

With it starting to heat up in the City of Prince George and the snow beginning to melt away, golf season is just around the corner.

With the sunny days starting to become the norm, golf courses around the region are in the midst of preparations to get their courses ready for the 2020 season.

Despite everything going on surrounding Covid-19 and social distancing, golf courses are hoping to open on schedule.

Course’s thought will need to make adjustments when it comes to how they operate, but at the same time feel the sport of golf is well equipped to practise safe social distancing.

As of right now (April 8) there has been no mandate provincially for the courses to be closed, but that could change depending on how the next couple of weeks go.

Regardless, the consensus around the region is that courses are at least a month away from opening for the 2020 season, and they all plan on using the time to make the best plan for social distancing so golfers can still enjoy the outdoors during the pandemic.
