Canfor announces additional capacity reductions

PRINCE GEORGE — Canfor has announced additional capacity reductions.

The lumber giant says the move has been prompted by the COVID-19 crisis which has led to a significant decrease in customer demand for its product.

It all means that from April 13 through to May 1, Canfor will reduce lumber production by 100 million board feet.

So, which operations will be affected by today’s announcement?

“In B.C. we are extending the curtailments at Houston, Plateau, Isle Pierre, Radium and Elko through May 1,” says Canfor’s Director of Corporate Communications Michelle Ward.

“In addition, Polar, Chetwynd and WynnWood will be curtailed from April 13 through May 1.”

She says PG Sawmill continues to operate.
