Conservative MPs demand supports for truckers
PRINCE GEORGE — A pair of Conservative MPs are demanding the federal government do more to support Canadian truck drivers during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Cariboo-Prince George Conservative MP and Shadow Transport critic Todd Doherty and Kelowna-Lake Country Conservative MP and Interprovincial Trade critic Tracy Gray have released a joint statement saying that they’ve heard from their colleagues and truckers about the difficulties and challenges they face.
They note that truck drivers “play a significant role in maintaining our supply chains in normal times; from supplying our grocery stores, restaurants and pharmacies” and that now more than ever, ” it is imperative to keep our supply chains moving” across the country.
“Every measure must be taken to ensure that our national supply chain remains safe, secure and provides for seamless movement of goods.”
