UPDATE: 1 new case of COVID-19 in Northern Health, 2 deaths in B.C.

VICTORIA—Another confirmed case of COVID-19 in Northern Health was announced at today’s COVID-19 briefing.

The total of confirmed cases in the Northern Health Region is now at 24.

Two deaths were also announced today, one death in Vancouver Coastal Health region and another in Fraser Health.

Provincially 34 new cases were announced bringing the total of confirmed cases to 1,370 in B.C.

Cases by Health Region:

  • Vancouver Coastal Health: 626
  • Fraser Health: 508
  • Vancouver Island Health: 82
  • Interior Health: 130
  • Northern Health: 24

There are 132 people in hospital, 68 in ICU or Critical Care and five people in hospital in Northern Health.

Provincial Health Officer, Dr. Bonnie Henry said that there are no new outbreaks in a longterm care facilities, with one outbreak declared over at one of the facilities.

Henry thanked and showed her gratitude to all healthcare workers speaking for all British Columbians saying, “they have our tremendous respect and support during this pandemic.”

She also recognized educational workers who have stepped up to support healthcare workers and other essential workers ensuring that students continue to receive the education they need in order to not be set back.

Health Minister Adrian Dix, and the Provincial Health Officer urged British Columbians, once again, to stay home this weekend.
