UPDATE: No new cases of COVID-19 in Northern Health, 45 new cases in B.C.

VICTORIA—Dr. Bonnie Henry, BC’s Provincial Health Officer, along with B.C.’s Health Minister, Adrian Dix announced 45 news cases of COVID-19 since Saturday.

The province’s total is now at 1,490 people who have tested positive for COVID-19.

11 people have died since Saturday due to the virus, bringing the total of deaths to 69 in B.C. The majority continuing to be those in long-term care facilities.

Cases by Health Region:

  • Vancouver Coastal Health: 650
  • Fraser Health: 591
  • Vancouver Island Health: 87
  • Interior Health: 136
  • Northern Health: 26

The Provincial Health Officer, announced one additional case of COVID-19 in the Interior Health nursery outbreak. Observation remains at the Okanagan Correctional Centre, where only one person has tested positive for the virus.

The Mission Federal Correctional Facility outbreak continues to grow, with 35 confirmed cases, with eight of those in hospital.

Last Friday (Apr.10) was the beginning to the self-isolation plan for travellers returning to B.C from abroad—requiring travellers to have a set plan for 14 days in self-isolation upon arrival.

According to Henry since then 13 people have required accommodation due to not having a solid self-isolation plan and 207 people have been contacted to ensure that they have what they need during their two week self-isolation period.
