$130 million to battle COVID-19 in Canada’s north
OTTAWA—Support for communities in Canada’s north is what was announced today in the Prime Minister’s COVID-19 response update.
Almost $130 million are being put towards helping northern communities fight COVID-19. $72.6 million will be given to the North West Territories, Yukon, and Nunavut, specifically for health care needs.
Funding is also being provided to air transport companies in order to ensure that food and supplies continue to arrive in Canada’s north.
Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau touched on entrepreneurs in those northern communities, saying that some of them have been hit hard.
