PRINCE GEORGE—According to Environment Canada we will reach above normal temperatures towards the end of the week and trickling into early next week.

Environment Canada Meteorologist, Bobby Sekhon, told CKPG News in an over the phone interview that seeing a high of 17 degrees on Sunday and 19 degrees on Monday are definite possibilities; as a ridge of high pressure shifts bringing the warmest temperatures we’ve seen this year to BC’s interior.

Sekhon says that normal temperatures for this time of year hover at around a high of 12 degrees and low of -1.

“We could even see one or two degrees higher than that,” he continues mentioning that they won’t be record-breaking temperatures.

With warmer temperatures it could be tempting to head outdoors and enjoy some Vitamin D, Sekhon says that that should be alright as long as we continue to follow social distancing measures in place by Canadian Health Officials.

“Keep in mind that the U.V. index at this time of year can get high so if it’s in the six range, that is considered high,” if that is the case Sekhon says “you want to avoid going outside between the hours of 11 a.m. and 3 p.m.”
