UPDATE: 2 new cases of COVID-19 in Northern Health

VICTORIA—Two new cases of COVID-19 in the Northern Health Region were announced today by B.C.’s Provincial Health Officer.

Bringing the total number of cases in the Northern Health Region to 30.

44 new cases of the virus were announced in B.C. bringing the total of confirmed cases to 1,561.

Cases by Health Region:

  • Vancouver Coastal Health: 670
  • Fraser Health: 623
  • Vancouver Island Health: 92
  • Interior Health: 146
  • Northern Health: 30

Three fatalities were reported today, with one of those deaths taking place in the Interior Health Region—the first death in that region.

The deceased was a man in his 60’s who was recovering from COVID-19 at home.

The province’s total of deaths is now at 75.

Provincial Health Officer, Dr. Bonnie Henry said that as of today there are 131 people in hospital across the province, with 59 of those in ICU. There are currently 4 people in hospital in the Northern Health region.

According to Dr. Henry people across the province have been a bit fearful about going to the hospital if they require hospital services.

Saying that if you require immediate medical assistance to call 9-1-1 as British Columbians will be safe if they do so.

Dr. Henry along with Health Minister Adrian Dix will be presenting modelling information on Friday.
