Small businesses can apply for BC Hydro COVID-19 Relief Fund

VANCOUVER—BC Hydro began accepting applications for small businesses looking to receive financial relief amidst the COVID-19 pandemic.

Over 3,000 applications have been submitted since BC Hydro began taking applications yesterday (Apr.15).

The BC Hydro COVID-19 Relief Fund allows small business customers that have closed their business, as a result of the pandemic, to apply to have their electricity costs waived for up to three months.

In order to be eligible for the COVID-19 Relief Fund, business customers must be on BC Hydro’s Small General Service Rate and have temporarily closed or ceased operations due to the COVID-19 crisis.

BC Hydro estimates that around 40,000 small businesses will be eligible for the program in the province. Customers have until June 30th to submit their application.
