PRINCE GEORGE – The Finance and Audit Committee will be holding a special meeting on Monday at noon to look over it’s options for dealing with what is a revenue loss of between $900,000 and $1.3 million per month.

“There isn’t anything happening in our city from a sporting, conference, convention, musical perspective at all, explains Mayor Lyn Hall. The downward trend began with cancellation of the World Women’s Curling Championships.

The Finance and Audit Committee has a number of options to consider, including the deferral of $24.8 million in capital projects, such as upgrades to the Aquatic Centre to the tune of $8.5 million, eliminating the 10% penalty on for overdue accounts on the utility bill. Also, the Finance Department is suggesting the proposed tax increase be reduced from 3.4% to 2.2%.

However, what the Finance and Audit Committee is proposing is only that. A proposal.
