Ribfest 2020 cancelled

PRINCE GEORGE — It seems we will have to wait for a second installment of Ribfest. The event, which saw nearly 10,000 people take part over three-days last year, is the latest to fall victim to the COVID-19 pandemic.

“It is not a decision that was made lightly, however, both partners in the event have decided the best course of action is to cancel Prince George Ribfest 2020. We have been monitoring the situation regarding COVID-19 very closely for over a month now, and we fully recognize the importance of focusing on the health and safety of our community and to continue to follow the orders of BC’s Provincial Medical Health Officer, Dr. Bonnie Henry,” said Rachelle Delorey, Nechako Rotary President, in a statement.

The inaugural Prince George Ribfest, which took place last year, featured a handful of Ribbers from across Canada, as well as other food and beverage vendors, and a slew of local entertainers.

Ribfest 2020 was supposed to take place June 19 to 21.
