VICTORIA—Dr. Bonnie Henry and Health Minister Adrian Dix announced a total of 52 new cases of COVID-19 in B.C.

The total number of cases in the Northern Health Region has gone up to 39, over the weekend.

Cases by Health Region:

  • Vancouver Coastal Health: 700
  • Fraser Health: 705
  • Vancouver Island Health: 102
  • Interior Health: 153
  • Northern Health: 39

The total number of test positive cases in the province is now at 1,699.

Five deaths were announced today, three on Saturday and two yesterday bringing the total to 86 deaths in B.C.

According to Dr. Henry, both the Interior Health, and Northern Health regions have had cases identified due to work conducted at the Kearl Lake oilsands project in Alberta.

Dr. Henry has ordered anyone who has made their way back to B.C. from that project to self isolate for 14 days, and anyone who’s been home already for over two weeks who may have had symptoms of the virus to contact 8-1-1.

There are 104 people in hospital across B.C., with three of those in Northern Health.

1,039 people have recovered from COVID-19.

Henry once again mentioned that the next several months will be a modification of what we’re seeing right now.
