OTTAWA—More support for charities and non-profits amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, that is what Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced this morning (Apr.21).

$350 million are being allotted to support community organizations and non-profits, large and small through the Emergency Community Support Fund.

“Their mission has always been to support people in their time of need.”—Justin Trudeau

Trudeau said that these organizations are in need of financial support in order to provide resources to support people in a time of great need.

Wage subsidy applications—made for businesses to help keep their employees employed by paying part of their salary—will begin to be accepted on Monday. A calculator has been placed on government’s website to help businesses calculate how much subsidy they will receive.

“Your efforts are fruitful.”—Justin Trudeau

Trudeau closed his address thanking Canadians for the past six weeks of strong efforts to help decrease the spread of COVID-19. “Let’s continue to follow the experts advise and together we will get through this.”
