Province issues flood warning for Cariboo, Chilcotin including Cache Creek

CACHE CREEK, B.C. — The entire Cariboo and Chilcotin regions are now subject to a flood warning.

The B.C. River Forecast Centre instituted the warning Tuesday morning (Apr. 21), and maintained an earlier warning for the Nazko and West Road Rivers further north.

In an advisory issued on the Centre’s website, officials say the warning is due to rising water on smaller creeks and tributaries.

Those conditions are caused by a rapid transition to warmer spring temperatures, combined with above-normal snowpack levels in the mid- to high-elevation areas.
