Quesnel-Hydraulic Road sees indefinite overnight closure

QUESNEL—The Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure is advising the public of the overnight closure of the Quesnel-Hydraulic Road.

The closure at kilometre 20.3 is due to ongoing slide activity and will be closed from 10 p.m. through 6 a.m. starting Apr.21.

In a release the Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure says that “significant land instability has been observed at this location. Out of an abundance of caution, the road will be closed indefinitely during these hours until geotechnical engineers can determine that a full-time reopening is safe for travellers.”

A detour via 2700 Road and 500 Road is being prepared to ensure a local route remains open to the public 24 hours a day. The detour will add approximately 30 minutes of travel time.
