Ride Don’t Hide cancelled due to COVID-19

PRINCE GEORGE—The Canadian Mental Health Association (CMHA) has announced the cancellation of their annual Ride Don’t Hide Event.

This would have been the 8th year the CMHA would have hosted the event.

“During these unprecedented times we need to follow the recommendation of the Ministry of Health as well as concern for the health and safety for all our participants, volunteers and riders.” —Maureen Davis, Executive Director of CMHA-PG Branch

The CMHA says it is their plan to have people riding next June, with planning for that already underway.

Maureen Davis, Executive Director of the CHMA-PG Branch says she’d like to encourage people “to stay connected with friends, family and other supports and not neglect our mental health as we practice good physical health activities.”

“Even though our event is cancelled this year we still call on people to talk openly and honestly about how they are coping during this pandemic and to reach out to professional supports if your feelings become overwhelming or too you are unable to focus on anything else.”—Maureen Davis, Executive Director of CMHA-PG Branch

Ride Don’t Hide began with Michael Schratter, a Vancouver school teacher living with bipolar disorder, who spent almost a year and a half cycling 40,000 km around the globe to raise awareness about mental illness.
