PRINCE GEORGE – The Domano Forest Service Road gate and barriers are once again getting the attention of city officials and people who use the area to recreate.

The locked gate leads to the unpaved section of the Domano Road. On the weekend the gate was vandalized in a manner to keep people out or with the intent of harming people.

The gate is located near the intersection of Malaspina and Domano Boulevard. For several years it was easy for residents to access the backcountry around this gate.

The road leads to West Lake, and it was once a popular spot for ATVs and other off-road vehicles, though the noise and dust had gotten to be enough for some nearby homeowners.

Therefore the city put up barriers limiting the use of some motorized vehicles.

According to residents who live near the access point someone had covered the gate and surrounding area with tar and pieces of broken glass.

RCMP say embedding pieces of broken glass in tar on and around the gate can be seen as criminal behaviour. WATCH:

Hayden Pederson noticed the glass on Saturday when his dog walked over the mixture of glass and tar. On Sunday he returned with friends to clean up the glass so others won’t get hurt. WATCH:

Police say if someone were to be harmed because of this kind of behaviour charges could be laid. WATCH:

RCMP did receive a report about this incident on Sunday and are investigating.
