UPDATE: 2 new cases of COVID-19 in Northern Health

VICTORIA—Two new cases of COVID-19 in the Northern Health Region were announced today by Provincial Health Officer, Dr. Bonnie Henry and Health Minister Adrian Dix.

The total number of confirmed cases in Northern Health is now at 42.

Cases by Health Region:

  • Vancouver Coastal Health: 755
  • Fraser Health: 760
  • Vancouver Island Health: 111
  • Interior Health: 156
  • Northern Health: 42

Provincially 29 cases of the virus were announced bringing the total of test positive cases to 1,824 in B.C.

Provincial Health Officer, Dr.Bonnie Henry announced one new outbreak at a longterm care facility, this one in the Interior Health Region. Along with two new outbreaks in acute care units, bringing the total to 347 cases in longterm or acute care facilities.

Another community outbreak at a Coquitlam Poultry company, this one at the sister company of the United Poultry company—which had an outbreak announced earlier this week.

As for what the future holds, Henry says we are going to be living with COVID-19 in our communities “for some time.”

Henry said that in the weeks to come we need to start thinking about how we are going to open up our personal circles, “we have to do that thoughtfully,” said Henry. Mentioning that we need to think about everyone in our lives that we may affect if they were to catch the virus, and continue to stay away from them.

She highlights that while we are not at the point of going back to normal just yet, we need to begin wrapping our heads around how we personally will move forward in our new normal once the time comes.
