UPDATE: A plan for the future of the province is underway

VICTORIA—Provincial Health Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry said in today’s (Apr.27) COVID-19 update that a plan to ease restrictions in the coming weeks is underway.

Dr. Henry along with Health Minister Adrian Dix announced 50 new cases of the virus in a 48 hour period, bringing the total to 1,998 test positive cases in B.C.

Henry mentioned that the province is working on a “made in B.C.” plan to ease restrictions and begin the slow journey back to normal.

The upcoming forest fire season and things like flooding have been taken into consideration when it comes to letting loose on those restrictions.

Three deaths were reported bringing the total number of deaths to COVID-19 to 103 in B.C.

Currently 97 people are in hospital, with 36 in ICU.

Two additional longterm facility outbreaks were reported, both in Fraser Health, in each just one person was identified to be infected with COVID-19.

11 cases of the virus have been identified in B.C. related to the Kearl Lake project in Alberta. Henry asking anyone involved in that project who has felt sick since March 24 or is feeling sick to contact their primary care provider or 8-1-1 and self isolate.

More information on B.C.’s plan for the future will be made available in the coming days.
