Evacuation alert for Bridge Creek-Houseman Rd. area

WILLIAMS LAKE—An Evacuation Alert has been issued by the Cariboo Regional District for the Bridge Creek-Houseman Rd. area.

Flooding in the area caused the alert, and the Cariboo Regional District (CRD) wants residents to be prepared incase of an evacuation order.

CRD’s tips to preparing for an evacuation alert include:

  • Having a plan to transport family or co-workers (while maintaining physical distancing if possible) outside of the area, should the are be brought under evacuation porder.
  • Keeping essential items readily available for a quick departure; including medications, eyeeglasses, valuable papers, immediate care needs for dependents and, if you choose, keepsakes
  • Ensuring that any dependents or pets are prepared for departure
  • Moving pets and livestock to a safe area
  • Ensuring that you have accommodation options for your family, if possible
  • In the event of an evacuation, do not shut off your natural gas
  • Monitor reliable news sources for information on evacuation orders and locations of Reception Centres and the Cariboo Regional District’s channels on Facebook and website
  • If you are on an evacuation ALERT or ORDER, or if you have been displaced from you home due to an emergency, Please self-register with Emergency Support Services (ESS) Self-Registration will reduce wait times for evacuees and assist in the referral process.
