UPDATE: 1 new case of COVID-19 in Northern Health, 4 deaths in B.C.

VICTORIA—1 new case of COVID-19 was announced in the Northern Health Region this afternoon (Apr.29).

34 new cases were announced provincially.

Cases by Health Region:

  • Vancouver Coastal Health: 811
  • Fraser Health: 941
  • Vancouver Island Health: 120
  • Interior Health: 169
  • Northern Health: 46

The total number of test positive cases in B.C. is now at 2,087.

Four deaths were reported in the province, all were seniors in longterm care.

The total number of deaths is now at 109 in B.C.

As of today there are 24 outbreaks at longterm care or assisted living facilities. Of those 24 outbreaks, 252 cases are residents and 152 are staff. 13 outbreaks in longterm care facilities have been declared over, including one in Interior Health.

In the Poultry plant outbreaks, the Superior Poultry plant is at 50 cases of COIVD-19, and the United Poultry plant is at 42, investigations are continuing.

There are no new cases in the Mission Federal Correctional Facility, cases remain at 108 inmates who have tested positive, and 12 staff.

Provincial Health Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry mentioned that the province continues to monitor people returning to the province.

15,000 people have returned to the province since April 10th, with 350 of those needing additional supports to be able to implement a self isolation plan.

89 people are in hospital today, with 35 in ICU
