Local business frustrated with continued lack of communication from City
PRINCE GEORGE — The City is set to begin construction on a new Downtown Renewable Energy System Friday. But there is frustration from Birch & Boar co-owner, Brian Quarmby. It surrounds a lack of communication from the City of Prince George, as he stated, “The city just seems to do what they want.”
That frustration has boiled up over the years. Quarmby said the George Street area has long been a problem area. This time around it has especially struck a cord with Birch & Boar, who have had to adapt through the pandemic just to keep their doors open.
“We are used to showing up to work and there being construction going on without any notification,” explained Quarmby. “We’re tired of it and this time we aren’t going to accept it. We need to see some changes and we need to see people held accountable.”
In response to the incident this week, Adam Homes, the City’s Director of Infrastructure Services, admitted, “We strive to do better than that. We put up some signage in the wrong place, had some wrong wording, could have done a better job of informing the businesses prior, so we will rectify that in the future.”
