For Cariboo Cougars Captain John Herrington, the 2019-2020 season was a memorable one.

In his final season at the Midget level, he Captained the Cariboo Cougars, put up 17 goals and 17 assists, and spent plenty of time with his future team, the Spruce Kings.

“I think the team as the year went on we built,” explained Herrington.

“I think at Macs that was our highest point. We had a bit of a slip up, but then we started to get it back. It’s too bad we couldn’t go into playoffs. I definitely think we could have made it to the finals. It’s tough. For the 17’s especially.”

Now that Herrington’s time with the Cougars is over, he is now getting set for the next chapter in his hockey career which is with the Prince George Spruce Kings.

The pride of Hudson’s Hope is no stranger to the Kings lineup as played a number of games with the Junior A squad this past season as an affiliate and even got into the line-up during the post-season against Trail.

“Getting to know where I have to be at for next season. So I think it was really helpful of knowing where I have to be,” shared Herrington.

“My first couple games this year with them, I was a bit slower and I just had to adjust a lot, but by the end of it in playoffs I felt like I was there. I could have been there. I’m really looking forward to next season.”

When it comes to what Herrington wants to work on this summer, the goal is to get bigger, faster, and more explosive so he is fully prepared to be a full time King in 2020-2021.

Herrington joins a Spruce Kings squad who were 18-32-3-5 last season.
