PRINCE GEORGE—There’s a new support service in town and it targets pregnant women in our community.

Hope for Women Pregnancy Services opened their doors to the public on April 20th, with a soft launch. The service offers a helping hand to women who are expecting.

“There’s lots of women in Prince George that face an unexpected pregnancy and often times that is met with fear…we just want women to know that they do have options and they have a support system out there.”—Chelsea Wood, Manager, Hope for Women Pregnancy Service Centre PG

Hope for Women, allows women a confidential space to be walked through all their available options, “we want them to make a fully informed, un-judgemental decision,” added Wood.

The service offers things such as, pregnancy tests, peer counselling, referrals to community services, and a baby boutique which offers things such as diapers, baby wipes, pre-natal vitamins and baby clothes to expectant mothers for up to two years after the baby’s born.

Wood mentioned that on June 6th the organization will be hosting it’s, Walk for Life fundraiser, where community members walk to support Hope for Women, however, she mentions that his year people will be walking alone due to physical distancing measures.

A grand opening is planned for later this year.
