Transit safety enhancement means fares starting back up June 1st
VICTORIA—BC Transit announced that it will be enhancing safety measure to its transit systems across the province which will allow the return of front door loading and collection of fares.
B.C. Transit will be installing temporary vinyl panels on buses, allowing for physical distancing between operator and customers, without a full driver door. A release by B.C. Transit says that this new safety measure aligns with the direction provided by B.C.’s Provincial Health Officer.
The enhancement will be rolled out on June 1st.
Other safety measures will remain in place such as enhanced cleaning on buses, communication to staff and customers about physical distancing procedures, limiting passenger capacity, enhancing the red line for passengers to stand behind, and the installation of vinyl panels on light duty buses.
