The Prince George Cougars have inked the first blue liner they selected in the 2020 WHL Bantam Draft.

The club announced Wednesday afternoon they had signed 2nd round pick Bauer Dumanski to a WHL Standard Player Agreement.

The Cougars selected Dumanski 26th overall.

The blue liner spent this past year with the Bantam AA Humboldt Broncos where he put up 16 goals and 17 assists from the back end, leading his team in scoring.

“Dumanski is a well-rounded defenceman already for his age. He’s a strong skater, who can drive offence from the back end,” said Cougars’ Director of Scouting, Bob Simmonds in a press release sent out by the team.

“He was his team’s leader, even as a defenceman, and his puck movement skills are what you need to be effective in today’s game.”

“It’s an honour to be signing with such a great organization like Prince George,” said Dumanski in the same released.

“It’s always been a dream of mine to play in the WHL and I can’t wait to get started.”

Dumanski is the 4th player from the Cougars draft class to be signed by the team.
