Resource Sector has new advocates
PRINCE GEORGE -The manufacturing industry quietly goes about its business, making things for industry. They are not typically an outspoken bunch. But that has changed, with some recent changes to BC’s, and the region’s, resource sector.
“September 2019, I was approached by a number of people. They were quite concerned about keeping our resources, including our labour resources, first of all, in Prince George,” explains Willy Manson, President of the newly-formed BC Resources Coalition. “We’re looking at promoting all kinds of businesses and resources, including natural gas to forestry to mining.” But a lot of attention is being paid to that resource called labour and ways to retain that highly-skilled workforce.
The organization gained Society status at the start of the new year, but the COVID-19 pandemic meant things were put on the backburner.
Until now.
