The goal of any hockey team, organization or association is to help its athletes move up and succeed at the next level.

Over the past two weeks we have highlighted a number of graduating players from both the Cariboo Cougars and Northern Capitals.

During those interviews we asked each player what it meant to be apart of the Cariboo organization and how it helped them grow to where they are today.

“Cariboo was everything for my development,” shared future Whitecourt Wolverine forward Brennan Bott. “The last two years there were unreal.”

“The program is great,” stated graduating defenceman Mathew Magrath. “From the way Tyler (Brough) runs the team and with RJay (Berra) and Jordan (Duncan) they do a great job of the team stuff. Then, with Renzo Berra with our school ice and skill development ice it is great for individual development and helped me get to where I am,” added Magrath.

“I think they have a really good program there with all the coaches,” shared 2019-2020 Captain John Herrington. “I have nothing but good things to say about all of the staff and all of the ice times and workouts that we had. The coaches are always there and always trying to help us get better. If you ask, they are going to help you.”

“It’s been great. The school ice and everything. We have everything we need to get better,” stated future Weyburn Red Wing Jackson Hassman.

“I think the past two years with the Capitals was such a great experience,” said outgoing Capitals Captain Paige Outhouse. ” I got the opportunity to play University and I am so excited for that. That’s honestly everything I could have asked for playing AAA. Being under the Cariboo umbrella this year was really great because we got to do a lot of community events and we had our name out there a bit more. It was really good being associated with them and doing all of the team stuff together.”

While it may be the end of their time under the Cariboo umbrella, all the graduating players were thankful for all the opportunities given to them in the organization and will always remember their time as a Cougar or a Capital.
