Record breaking unemployment numbers for the month of April

OTTAWA–Record breaking unemployment numbers as the Canadian economy lost almost two million jobs in April, and the spread of COVID-19 forced businesses to shutter temporarily. Stats Canada says the national unemployment rate spiked to 13 per cent compared with 7.8 per cent in March. It was the second highest unemployment rate on record. BC’s jobless rate shot up to 11.5 per cent last month, from 7.2 in March.The unemployment rate in Prince George, not surprisingly, also climbed to 10.1 per cent from 8.8 in March.
