15 new COVID cases in BC, recovery rate over 70 percent

VICTORIA — There are 15 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 in BC for a total of 2,330, according to Provincial Health Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry. One additional confirmed case in Northern Health for 56. The province’s death total has risen by two to 129. As for recoveries, 1,659, or 71 percent, have completely recovered.

It being Mother’s Day weekend, Dr. Henry made a point to acknowledge mothers in BC. She reiterated the idea of keeping the community safe, especially mothers more susceptible to contracting COVID-19. “Honour our mothers by keeping them safe,” she said.

Warm and sunny weather is expected over the next few days, Dr. Henry encouraged people to go outside and enjoy it.

Dr. Henry also spoke out to seniors who may be feeling lonely with self-isolation. She stressed the importance of still seeing and communicating with family but still while following social distancing practices.
