Head-on collision leads to arrest
PRINCE GEORGE — Just after midnight on Saturday morning, Prince George RCMP received a report of a head-on collision on Highway 16 at Marleau Road.
Initial witness accounts and evidence indicated a Chevrolet Impala sedan was driving on the wrong side of the highway and collided with a full-size pickup truck. The driver of the Impala fled on foot as police were being called and was eventually found in a delivery vehicle at a nearby retail mall. The suspect, a 46-year-old man, showed signs of being impaired by alcohol and bit an officer while in the process of being arrested.
The suspect was transported to hospital to be assessed for injuries and was cleared. He spent the night in police custody before being released on an Appearance Notice for court on August 26 pending charge approval from the BC Prosecution Service.
The driver of the pickup did not suffer serious injuries.
